The Office of Public Guardian was established to provide guardianship and advocacy for legally incapacitated people ("wards") who have no family or family members are unable to serve as their guardian. We provide services throughout to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, progressive cognitive loss due to dementia or other neurological disorders, and traumatic brain injuries. Public Guardians are held to a high standard of accountability. Detailed reports of the person and accountings of the estate must be filed annually.

Our 2009 ELVES FOR ELDERS gift and donation drive is well on its way. We will have trees in Hillsborough County, Pinellas and Pasco County and Brevard County this year. If you are not able to visit one of our tree sites please click on our Elves for Elders page for a current list of our wards and their needs. Another option available this year is to donate to the Elves for Elders program on our website using PayPal.
Thanks to your generosity and spirit all of our wards will be able to celebrate the season. Please know that you are making a difference in another individual's life.
